SEI/ASCE Student Structural Design Competition

The Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE is sponsoring a structural design competition for universities.

Innovative projects demonstrating excellenc3e in structural engineering are invited for submission.

Awards include cash prizes and an opportunity to present the designs at the annual SEI Structures Congress.

What's Next?: 11th Annual AbilityOne Design Challenge

The Ability One Network Design Challenge (formerly the National Scholar Award for Workplace Innovation & Design Competition) was founded by NISH to encourage the development of creative technological solutions for barriers that prevent people with disabilities from entering or advancing in the workplace.  The Design Challenge is open to any college student or student team at the graduate or undergraduate level and is a great service learning opportunity for engineering, computer science, industrial design, physical therapy and occupational therapy students!

Annual National Timber Bridge Design Competition

The National Timber Bridge Design Competition is open to student chapters of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and Forest Products Society (FPS) in the United States and Canada. Joint or cooperative entries (ASCE and FPS working together) are eligible and even encouraged. A chapter may also submit multiple entries. (ARCE is a member of ACI of ASCE).
The Competition has 3 major objectives:

  • To promote interest in the use of wood as a competitive bridge construction material,
  • To generate innovative and cost-effective timber bridge design techniques, and
  • To develop an appreciation of the engineering capabilities of wood.
