2017 Scholarship Luncheon & Senior Projects Day

June 8, 2017

The day kicked off with the annual ARCE scholarship luncheon which took place in the KTGY gallery on campus on Thursday, June 8th and awarded over $95,000 in student scholarships. Department Head Al Estes acted as emcee for the event and CAED Dean Christine Theodoropoulos presented the college-level scholarships. Several of the generous scholarship donors attended to personally present the scholarships on behalf of their firms and scholarship foundations including Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Luc D'Abreau representing the D’Abreau Foundation, Alan Hanson and Darwin Waite of Simpson Strong-Tie, and representatives from ICC to present the Fred H. Schott and Forell/Elsesser Scholarships. The others sent videos that played as their scholarships were awarded. This year’s ARCY Award winner for creating the most creative scholarship award video was Simpson, Gumpertz & Heger (SGH). The ARCE department offers special thanks to our wonderful Scholarship Committee comprised of Committee Chair Craig Baltimore, Pamalee Brady, Graham Archer, Anahid Behrouzi, Adriana Sousa, and Erika Clements. We offer congratulations to our scholarship recipients and huge thanks to our generous donors. A list of all scholarship donors and recipients can be found below.

Following the luncheon, the department held its annual Senior Projects Day presentations in the Hilti Lab, Verco Lab, and Simpson Strong-Tie Lab. Each year the department shuts down for an afternoon during Dead Week of spring quarter to allow all faculty members to observe and assess the student projects. There was a great range of faculty supported research and restoration projects to company sponsored material research and testing. A complete list of all project presentation and faculty advisers is provided below.
