ACSA/AISC Student Design Competition
Required Courses: ARCE 403, 453, & 460 (Pre-requisite courses must be completed)
Course Term: Winter and Spring Quarters
Description: This is a two-quarter-long interdisciplinary course taken with Architecture students, exploring a variety of design issues related to the use of steel in design and construction. The competition is administered by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). Every year, the challenge theme changes, and submission due date is around May.

AEI Student Competition
Required Courses: ARCE 453
Course Term: Winter Quarter
Description: The Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) holds the Charles Pankow Foundation Annual Architectural Engineering Student Design Competition. The competition is a project involving the design and construction management of the engineered aspects of a high performance building including the structural systems, building envelope, mechanical systems and electrical systems. The competition is open to both graduate and undergraduate students.

EERI Undergraduate Seismic Design Competition
Required Courses: ARCE 453
Course Term: Winter Quarter or longer
Description: Cal Poly Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering students work together on annual EERI student competion. The project involves construction of the structure and structural analyses.
