SEAOC takes Sacramento

nov 17, 2015

Vice President of Cal Poly SEAOC student chapter, Emily Setoudeh, organized a trip to Sacramento November 11th through the 13th. 27 ARCE students attended along with their faculty advisor, Al Estes.

On Wednesday, November 11th, the group first visited the office of Barrish Pelham & Associates. Students got to have lunch, and learn more about the company’s projects practices. The group then went to Lionakis’s Sacramento office, to get an office tour and learn more about what the firm and the training program they offer.

The next day, the group begin with a trip to Miyamoto’s headquarters, where they received a brief presentation and office tour. They then went to two concrete tilt- up projects that Miyamoto was currently working on, and got a structural tour of each site. The group finished the day with a movie and dinner at studio movie grill.

On the final day, the group started by going into downtown Sacramento to see California’s state capital. They then went to the Elk’s building and got an architectural tour of this historic building. After a quick lunch break at Pizza Rock, the group went to Buehler and Buehler for a brief presentation and a site visit of the new King’s stadium. This was the biggest project the group got to see and a big highlight of the trip. The group finished the trip on a high note with a dinner with Sacramento’s Young Members Forum. Students got to meet and greet with young professionals in the industry and got to relax after a long three days.
